About BasketPrice
BasketPrice tracks what one US retailer actually charges, records it, and shows each price against the history we recorded ourselves. The question the site exists to answer is not “is this cheap” but “is this cheaper than it has been” — which nobody can answer from a single price tag.
What it covers
Amazon, in the United States, in US dollars. Amazon prices come through the Product Advertising API, because the Associates agreement forbids showing scraped or hand-entered Amazon prices. Every other retailer we add is read by our own crawler, which obeys robots.txt and takes only prices the shop publishes as structured data.
How new this is, exactly
Our price record begins . That is a real limitation and we would rather state it than hide it behind a chart: where a product shows a short series, our record is short. Nothing here claims to know what something cost last year. The floor badge is scoped to ninety days at a single retailer for the same reason — the exact rules.
What it is not
- Not a coupon aggregator. A code we cannot see working is not published.
- Not a review site. We do not test products, so we do not tell you which headphones sound better. We tell you what they cost and what they have cost.
- Not a merchant. We hold no stock, take no payments, and cannot change, cancel or refund an order — that is between you and the retailer.
- Not funded by placement. Commission does not move anything up the page. How we make money.
Independence
BasketPrice is run by MonacoWebPix, an independent sole trader in Monaco (imprint), and is not owned by, operated by, or affiliated with any retailer listed on it. We take part in Amazon’s affiliate program, Amazon Associates, and that relationship is disclosed on every card that carries a link, not only here.
