• How often does Amazon change prices?

  Often enough that last week’s price is no promise about this week’s, and much more on some shelves than others. The table below counts it shelf by shelf from our own readings; for one item, what matters is how long its current price has held.

• When Subscribe & Save is actually cheaper

  The subscription discount is real, the coupon on top of it is real, and the price you end up with is often not the one advertised. Here is the arithmetic, and the three cases where it loses.

• Amazon List Price vs your price: is it real?

  Amazon shows a List Price only if customers paid it on Amazon, or another retailer asked it, at some point in the past 90 days, so it can sit well above anything Amazon itself charged lately. The comparison that tells you something is with what the same item cost at Amazon before.

• When is the best time to buy on Amazon?

  When the item’s own price is low against its history at Amazon — not when the discount badge is large, and not because a sale has a name. A named sale is worth waiting for only if the prices you want actually fall during it, which our sale reports check product by product.

• Are Amazon Lightning Deals worth it?

  Usually a real cut, and a short one. A Lightning Deal, a Prime-members price and a limited-time deal are three different offers under one red label: they differ in how deep the cut is, how long it stands, and now and then in whether it is a cut at all.   A successor is nearly always dearer, and the gap is rarely the small step the launch price implies. The table below prices every pair we track against each other, live, and a handful of them run the other way.

• Is Amazon Renewed worth it? The saving, model by model

  Often, but check the new price first. Amazon Renewed units are inspected and tested by Amazon-qualified suppliers and most come with a 90-day return period, 365 days for Renewed Premium. Against the same model sold new the saving varies widely, and some Renewed listings cost as much as new.

• Ring vs Blink: what each costs over two years

  Blink’s one-camera plan costs $39.99 a year and Ring’s $49.99, and Blink can save clips with no plan at all, to a USB drive in a Sync Module 2; a Ring camera keeps no video without one. Which costs less in total depends on the camera, so the table below adds today’s Amazon price to two years of each plan.

• How much electricity does a TV use?

  A 65-inch TV draws a median 122 watts while it is on and uses 234 kWh a year in the Department of Energy’s test, which counts five hours of viewing a day: about $43 a year at the US average of 18.31¢ per kWh. A 55-inch draws 78 watts, an 85-inch 232 watts. The table gives every common size, counted over all 9,257 TVs certified to DOE.

• How much does it cost to run a space heater?

  A 1,500-watt space heater uses 1.5 kWh an hour at full power: about 27¢ an hour at the US average of 18.31¢ per kWh, or about $66 for eight hours a day over a month. Every 1,500-watt heater costs the same to run, whatever it cost to buy.

• How much is Amazon Prime? Every subscription’s price in 2026

  Amazon Prime is $14.99 a month or $139 a year, its price since February 18, 2022. Prime for Young Adults, for 18- to 24-year-olds and college students, is $7.49 or $69, and Prime Video on its own $8.99 a month. Audible starts at $8.99 a month, Kindle Unlimited is $11.99 and Music Unlimited $10.99 with Prime. The table gives each with the date its price last changed.

• Kindle, Echo, Fire TV price increases: what they cost now

  Amazon raised the list prices of its Kindle, Echo, Fire TV and eero devices overnight on August 21, 2026, by $5 to $100, blaming the cost of memory chips; Meta raised the Quest 3 and 3S on April 19 and Sony the PS5 on April 2. • Prime for Young Adults: price, free trial and 5% cash back

  Prime for Young Adults costs $7.49 a month or $69 a year after six months free, half of Prime, and pays 5% cash back on badged items. It is for 18- to 24-year-olds and college students; the cash back covers Beauty, Apparel, Electronics, Personal Care and Personal Computers, up to $100 a purchase and $500 a year, for as long as Amazon runs the offer.

  Amazon now shows up to 365 days of price history itself: tap the price history link beside the price on a product page. What it shows is the price line. Whether today’s deal beats what the item usually costs is still a judgement you make from it.

• Amazon price adjustment: does Amazon refund a price drop?

  No. Amazon does not refund the difference when a price falls after you order, and its only price guarantee covers pre-orders. What you can do is return the item inside the return window, 30 days from delivery for most items, while it is unused and in its original condition, and buy it again at the lower price.

• Amazon Christmas shipping deadlines 2026

  Amazon has not published a list of Christmas order-by dates since 2019, so any 2026 “deadline” you read for it is an estimate. What it shows instead is an “Arrives before Christmas” label on eligible items — from December 9 in 2025.

• Amazon holiday return policy 2026: likely until Jan 31

  Amazon has not announced 2026 yet. In 2023–2025, most items bought November 1–December 31 could go back until January 31, Apple products until January 15. If 2026 follows them, an item bought on Black Friday can be returned until January 31, 2027.
