Presidents Day 2027 falls on Monday, February 15, always the third Monday in February. The sales run across the long weekend before it, led by mattresses, appliances and the outgoing year’s TVs.

What actually moves

Presidents Day is a winter clearance weekend. Mattresses and large appliances lead it, as they do at Memorial Day and Labor Day, and TVs join them for a reason of their own: the makers show the new year’s models at CES in January and ship them through the spring, so last year’s range is being cleared while the new one is still on its way.

That makes it a weekend for the outgoing model, not the new one. A TV announced in January is rarely in stock by February, let alone discounted.

What to check

Compare the weekend price with what the same item cost at the same retailer in the weeks before, not with the crossed-out figure. A price that rose after the holidays and falls back for the weekend is a return to December, not a cut. The day after the sale, this page reports which prices really were lower.

Was the Presidents Day price real?

For every product we track, we take the lowest price we recorded from February 12 to February 15 and set it against the median price it held over the 45 days from December 15 to January 28, or over the days since we began watching it, where that came later and leaves at least 14. The comparison stops two weeks before the sale, so a price raised in the run-up cannot pass for the normal one. A cut has to be at least 5% below that. We judge a product only when one seller held it through the baseline and set its sale low too: when Amazon restocks under a reseller’s price, the price falls without anyone cutting it.

The report appears here on February 16, the day after the sale ends. Until then there is nothing honest to say about it.
