The Fourth of July 2027 falls on a Sunday, so the holiday is observed on Monday, July 5, and the sales run across that long weekend. For anything Amazon sells, Prime Day has started within twelve days after it in four of the last five years.

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day

The goods are the ones Memorial Day and Labor Day sell (grills, patio furniture, mattresses, air conditioners) at the middle of their season. That usually puts the cuts between the two: deeper than May, when the season is starting, and shallower than September, when it is ending.

Prime Day is the other date to watch

For anything Amazon sells, the weekend is rarely the last chance. Prime Day began between July 8 and 16 in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, within twelve days after the Fourth; in 2026 it came first, on June 23–26. Until Amazon names the 2027 dates, a price on the Fourth is worth checking against the Prime Day page before taking it.

Was the Fourth of July price real?

For every product we track, we take the lowest price we recorded from July 1 to July 5 and set it against the median price it held over the 45 days from May 3 to June 16, or over the days since we began watching it, where that came later and leaves at least 14. The comparison stops two weeks before the sale, so a price raised in the run-up cannot pass for the normal one. A cut has to be at least 5% below that. We judge a product only when one seller held it through the baseline and set its sale low too: when Amazon restocks under a reseller’s price, the price falls without anyone cutting it.

The report appears here on July 6, the day after the sale ends. Until then there is nothing honest to say about it.
