How it differs from the Friday

The split between the two is mostly historical. Black Friday was the in-store day and Cyber Monday the online one; today both run online and most retailers treat the stretch between them as a single event with a rolling set of prices.

At Amazon the two are one sale: its Black Friday event ended on Cyber Monday in every year from 2019 to 2025. A Monday price is new only if the item did not reach it earlier in the week; one that held all week could have been bought on the Friday.

Black Friday vs Cyber Monday, product by product

From December 1, this page sets each product’s lowest price on Cyber Monday against its lowest from November 19 to 29: from the Thursday a week before Thanksgiving, where Amazon opened Black Friday Week in 2024 and 2025, through the Sunday before the Monday. A difference under 5% counts as the same price.

That answers the question for each item rather than for the sale as a whole: whether waiting for the Monday bought a lower price, or cost the one that was already on offer that week.

Was the Cyber Monday price real?

For every product we track, we take the lowest price we recorded from November 30 to November 30 and set it against the median price it held over the 45 days from October 2 to November 15, or over the days since we began watching it, where that came later and leaves at least 14. The comparison stops two weeks before the sale, so a price raised in the run-up cannot pass for the normal one. A cut has to be at least 5% below that. We judge a product only when one seller held it through the baseline and set its sale low too: when Amazon restocks under a reseller’s price, the price falls without anyone cutting it.

The report appears here on December 1, the day after the sale ends. Until then there is nothing honest to say about it.

Is Cyber Monday cheaper than Black Friday?
Not as a rule. At Amazon the Monday is the last day of the Black Friday sale, which has ended on Cyber Monday every year since 2019, so an item can reach its low on the Monday or have been cheaper earlier in the week. For any one item, compare its Monday price with the lowest it reached in the days before.
Is it worth waiting from Friday to Monday?
Only for an item whose price has not fallen yet. Once it has dropped during the week, the Monday has to beat that price, not the one from before the sale, and the item’s own price history shows which of the two you are looking at.
