A label, not a sale anyone has to run

Green Monday is a retail industry name rather than an event with rules. No retailer is obliged to hold it, and nothing says its prices beat the ones from Cyber Monday two weeks earlier.

So the useful comparison is with what the same item cost on Cyber Monday, which the product pages here record. A Green Monday price that only matches it is a second chance, not a better deal; the day after, this page reports which prices really were lower than the weeks before.

Delivery before the price

The day matters because of the calendar more than the discount. After it, standard delivery before December 25 gets less certain each day, and a lower price that arrives on the 27th did not buy a present. Read the delivery date on the listing before the price.

Was the Green Monday price real?

For every product we track, we take the lowest price we recorded from December 14 to December 14 and set it against the median price it held over the 45 days from October 16 to November 29, or over the days since we began watching it, where that came later and leaves at least 14. The comparison stops two weeks before the sale, so a price raised in the run-up cannot pass for the normal one. A cut has to be at least 5% below that. We judge a product only when one seller held it through the baseline and set its sale low too: when Amazon restocks under a reseller’s price, the price falls without anyone cutting it.

The report appears here on December 15, the day after the sale ends. Until then there is nothing honest to say about it.
