LEGO price per piece: every theme, from today’s Amazon prices
Across the 281 LEGO sets of 100 pieces or more we price at Amazon today, the median is 9.0¢ a piece. Speed Champions is the cheapest theme at 6.3¢ and Jurassic World the dearest at 13.7¢. 151 of the 281 sell below LEGO’s list price, by a median 20%.
A LEGO set’s price per piece is its price divided by its piece count. It is a rough guide rather than a rule: big parts, printed parts, minifigures and licences all raise it, so compare sets within a theme rather than across themes. The table works it out for every set we price at Amazon today.

Why per piece is only a rough guide
A 1×1 plate, a Technic panel and a printed minifigure torso each count as one piece. A Duplo brick is twice as long, wide and tall as the standard brick it matches, eight times the plastic, and still counts once. So a theme built from large or printed parts costs more a piece without being worse value.
Licensed themes, such as Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter and Disney, usually cost more a piece than LEGO’s own, and the table shows by how much at today’s prices. Within a theme, the price per piece is a fair way to compare two sets.
LEGO’s price and Amazon’s
LEGO sets one list price for each set in the US, and Amazon shows it crossed out as the “List Price” when it sells for less. Each product page here gives Amazon’s price today beside that list price and the price per piece.
LEGO retires most sets at the end of a year or in the middle of one. After that, stock runs down and the price usually climbs past the list price: BrickEconomy values Medieval Town Square, retired in October 2025, at about $300 against its $229.99 retail price.
Where the piece counts come from
From the listing when it states one. Otherwise from Rebrickable, whose database of every official set is the source for counts we did not read on the box; it counts the parts inventory and can differ from the box by a few pieces, 3,308 for Medieval Town Square against the 3,304 printed on it. Sets of fewer than 100 pieces are left out of the theme medians: at that size the price is mostly the minifigure.

Questions people ask
- What is a good price per piece for LEGO?
- Across the 281 LEGO sets of 100 pieces or more we price at Amazon today, the median is 9.0¢ a piece. Speed Champions is the cheapest theme at 6.3¢ and Jurassic World the dearest at 13.7¢. 151 of the 281 sell below LEGO’s list price, by a median 20%.
- Why do LEGO Star Wars sets cost more per piece?
- Licensed themes carry the cost of the licence, and they are full of minifigures and printed parts, which count as single pieces. Compare a Star Wars set with other Star Wars sets, not with Classic or City.
- Is a lower price per piece always better value?
- No. Large parts, Technic beams and Duplo bricks lower the count for the same amount of plastic, and minifigures raise the price without adding many pieces. Price per piece is a fair comparison within one theme.
- Do LEGO sets go up in price after they retire?
- Usually, once stock runs out. BrickEconomy values Medieval Town Square, retired in October 2025, at about $300 against its $229.99 retail price.
