Ring vs Blink: what each costs over two years

Of the 5 Ring and Blink pairs we can price at Amazon today, with two years of each brand’s one-device plan added, Blink costs less in 4 and Ring in 1.

Blink’s one-camera plan costs $39.99 a year and Ring’s $49.99, and Blink can save clips with no plan at all, to a USB drive in a Sync Module 2; a Ring camera keeps no video without one. Which costs less in total depends on the camera, so the table below adds today’s Amazon price to two years of each plan.

What the plans cost

Ring Solo is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year for one device, with up to 180 days of video history and person, package and vehicle alerts. Ring Multi, $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, covers every Ring device at one address. Ring Pro, $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year, adds 24/7 professional monitoring and Ring’s AI features.

Blink Basic is $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year for one camera or doorbell, with up to 60 days of cloud storage, and Blink Plus is $11.99 a month or $119.99 a year for any number of devices. The two “ai” plans, $6.99 and $19.99 a month, add video descriptions and unusual-activity alerts. Blink raised its US plan prices from October 8, 2025.

What you get without a plan

A Ring camera or doorbell without a plan streams live view and sends motion alerts, but records nothing to play back: video recording is what Ring’s plans add.

A Blink camera without a plan keeps live view, for up to 5 minutes at a time, motion alerts and two-way audio. It can still save clips, to a USB drive in a Sync Module 2 or a microSD card in a Sync Module XR, both sold separately; a Sync Module Core cannot store clips at all. Of the two brands, that is the only way to keep recordings without paying every month.

More than one camera

Ring Multi costs less than separate Solo plans from the third device: $99.99 a year against $149.97 for three. Blink Plus costs less than separate Basic plans from the fourth: $119.99 against $159.96 for four. For a whole house, Ring’s plan is the cheaper of the two by $20 a year.
